Vivid Sydney Lights the City with Colour

Vivid Sydney 2011

Photography buffs take note. Dust off your tripods and practice your long exposure settings. Vivid Sydney, a festival celebrating light, music and ideas has hit our shores.

Now in its third year, the 18 day festival sees the Lighting of the Sails at the Sydney Opera House with 3D light projections and various art and illuminations at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Circular Quay and the Rocks. A  spectacular light show has Customs House coming alive with light and movement before it magically ‘disappears’.

Campbells Cove sets the stage for FireDance, a live fire show choreographed to music. The Vivid Sydney Night Markets at the Rocks operate on Friday and Saturday night with fashion, craft and food stalls. For the first time, select bars, restaurants and cafés are offering special Vivid Deals including cocktails for the duration of the festival as well as the Sony Lounge pop-up bar.

Vivid Live at the Sydney Opera House has a line up of performers including jazz saxophonist Sonny Rollins who will be celebrating his 80th birthday on stage and Vivid Ideas features public forums, talks, debates, seminars with creative professionals sharing ideas.

Vivid Sydney runs nightly from 27 May to 13 June 2011, with the lights going on at 6 pm nightly.
