If you’re planning a visit to the Palestinian territories, keep an eye out for Taybeh Beer, the one and only Palestinian beer.
Made according to the German purity law of 1516, Taybeh is brewed from malted barley, hops, yeast and natural spring water from Ein Samia with no preservatives or additives. The result is a pure beer available in a Golden, Light and Dark brew.
Founded by Nadim Khoury in 1994 following the Oslo Peace Agreement, Taybeh (tai-bey), “delicious” in Arabic, is also the name of the village where the beer is made. Located north of Jerusalem near Ramallah, production is hand crafted and the beer is produced in small batches to guarantee quality.
Taybeh Brewing Company holds complimentary tours where you can visit the Palestinian brewery and learn about the process of beer making. During early October, the village of Taybeh holds an Oktoberfest festival with cultural activities and entertainment as well as guided tours of the old village.
